I completed a two year apprenticeship at Dartington Pottery (1989-1991) followed by a two year HND course in ceramic design at Falmouth School of Art (1991-1993). I subsequently had several years experience as a production thrower at Willow Pottery, Bath, before opening my own workshop in Bristol.

The majority of my work comprises wheel-thrown domestic ware, decorated with various coloured slips and glazes. The decoration is created with a simple dot or plain slip design, allowing the richness of the terracotta clay to show through. After bisque firing, I use a combination of clear and coloured glazes to produce a wide
range of intense colours.picture_of_dan

I also have recently begun creating small figurative pieces,
such as the 'sheep hill' and 'bird tower', as well as making
the odd flower pot in the spring.
